Missing Teeth » Denture Stabilisation
Dentures are a common solution for patients who have lost some or all of their natural teeth. However, because there is no support for the underlying bones, over time they recede, which can cause dentures to become loose and uncomfortable.
At 61 Dental we can offer the latest in denture stabilisation techniques, using dental implants to hold your dentures firmly in place for maximum comfort and stability.
All too often, patients with dentures report problems with speech, with not being able to eat some of their favourite foods due to problems with biting and chewing, discomfort from ill-fitting dentures when bones and gums recede, and the fear that loose dentures could fall out.
By using dental implants, all of these problems can be eliminated. A dental implant is a small titanium screw or post that is attached directly to the jaw bone. The bone and surrounding tissues will, over time, grow around the implant and it will act much like the root of a natural tooth. After the jaw has healed, dentures can be securely attached to the implants, which will prevent the bones and gums from receding and hold the dentures firmly in place. You will still be able to easily remove your denture for cleaning – your dentist will show you exactly how to do it.
Our dental team are highly experienced in fitting dental implants, and the procedure is usually carried out under local anaesthetic, although we do have sedation options available for particularly nervous patients.
The results can be life-changing, enabling you to enjoy all your favourite foods once more and to smile and laugh without fear of your dentures slipping.
